El Cancun Mexican Restaurant in Hiawassee

Food was awful ☹️. My meal was supposed to come with shrimp and chorizo over rice with cheese dip poured over everything. What I got was cheese dip on the bottom, rice over the cheese and burnt ground beef on top of that with no shrimp at all. It was carry out so I didn't even notice until I got home. I tried to eat it but the burnt hamburger was overwhelming. The meal ended up in the trash. I am completely disgusted!! I will NEVER eat there again! The cook could clearly see the meat was burnt and it was missing the shrimp! I do not recommend this place

Went here for Cinco de Mayo. Place was very busy, nicely decorated for the occasion and lots of people. The variety of food good and was tasty.

Have being eating here for several years at least once a month. Since they have opened back up after COVID something has changed. The last three times we have been they can not get our orders right. Ordering straight off the menu.

Great food, and great service. We had our doggie with us , so we sat outside, and they even brought her a little water bowl, without us having to ask! Super nice people ! Definitely going back!

Honestly, the food presentation and atmosphere were not as authentic as I was used to. But....the food was fantastic and the service was great! My wife and I will definitely be back and recommend y'all to all of our friends and family. 👍🏻👍🏻

This was awful!! No ice, bad service, food was just ok. We were there for 2 hours before we got our food and it wasn't worth the wait!!

If there were only zero stars... I got the ribeye steak and I'm very sorry but there is NO WAY this could be considered good mexican. Honestly the worst mexican I've ever had. Very disappointed. It was only $12 so I guess I should have known. It was almost like the steak was boiled then seared on each side... it was almost a grey color 😳😳. After 2 bites i stopped. I'm an oversized individual so I was really looking forward to good food 😔😔

I didn’t like...food not tasty. Service doesn’t exist at all. You can say that they are family. Maybe that’s why the organization kind of loose.

Food was very mediocre. Service wasn't very good. Servers seemed lost and we didn't care much for employees loitering beside our table while the service wasn't very good

Best Texas Fajita Nachos I've ever had! And the best Guacamole!!! Great prices too! Perfect views of the always beautiful Lake Chatuge.

Service was awful there were 2 young girls playing on their phones eating boxes chinese food (that were servers or hosts I dont know)... I've never seen anyone look so miserable at work, while not working... food was ok... nothing remarkable and the frozen margaritas had no tequila in them.... skip this place and go somewhere else

Delicious food - great atmosphere. Be careful going on Friday or Saturday nights... they seem to get overwhelmed and food comes out very slow and the waitstaff become forgetful. Otherwise worth a visit.

We were staying across the street at the ridges. Ordered by phone, took 25 min and the food was excellent. Fed family of 8 for $71

Literally the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life. Shrimp tasted old, beef in fajitas was non existent, and the service was was worse than poor. Only come here if you need to fuel yourself from a day or drinking.

Super clean place to eat personel very kind and it is not expensive.

We enjoyed our visit for it was nice to be with family and share a night out. We have patronized El Cancun for some time because the food is good and surrounding view is great! Their margaritas aren't bad either! All employees were wearing mask to comply with the rules. They were quite busy since this was the first true opening (imo) in light of the covid crisis. The only thing I could say that would help is napkins, paper menus and all the regulars when sitting down. Glass of water...Now us, except for napkins(had to wipe the sauce off my menu) didn't really care. We knew it was going to be like this. We just wanted to eat out! Lol! In the past before covid though we have experienced this. Even with the on slaught of the public I give the Cancun a high 5 for serving us at such a demading time

I had the Mexican T-bone. Never had it before... It was very good and our waitress was superb, cracking jokes back. She goes by "Lavender". Im not giving her real name because of idiots that are disrespectful. Overall I'll be back looking for something else to try.

Great food at a reasonable price.

The food was good and came out quickly. The server was attentive for about five minutes. After that he was scarce. When he did come around he was attentive to the man, didn't ask if I wanted another drink only him, didn't take my plate when he took his, didn't even ask if I was finished and we had to hunt him down for the check. Other than that my experience was good. I'd still give it another chance.

Inexperienced wait staff.Everyone looked depressed and moping around. Food was okay Maybe an off day? I dont know but it wasn't good.

The food was great. My husband and I felt rushed though. The check was brought over while I was taking a bite from my shrimp fajita!!! The server didn't ask if we wanted dessert. Food was great for the price.

This place is amazing! The food is delicious and the staff super friendly. We made two trips there while we were in town for 3 days.

Drinks are always perfect, food always exceeds my expectations, and the staff is very welcoming and attentive! The guacamole is the best I've ever had!

I like Mexican food what else is there to say. The staff is always friendly but I also never complain about someone cooking me food. Thank you guys for making awesome food all the time.

Best margaritas and Mexican food in hiawasse!

The service was awful. We had a party of 7 and it took them 20 minutes to take our order. The food was very bland. I would not recommend this restaurant. I don’t understand how this restaurant has a rating of 4.1.

The food was extremely wet and unseasoned the chips were the best thing. The shrimp were unseasoned as well as the grilled onions that were not grilled properly and still raw. The waitress was nice and the cashier customer service was okay. I didn't think you could mess up Mexican food but at lass El Cancun found a way. El Cancun was so bad I'll never forget it.

Food was delicious. Service was kinda slow but we where in no hurry. Could have a more user friendly menu.

We love mexican restaurants and like to try new spots from time to time. This place was absolutely horrible. I don't think I have ever disliked a restaurant as much as this place. The chips were either stale or saturated in oil, the tacos were so soggy we couldn't even pick them up. The flavors have zero business being in a Mexican restaurant. Its almost as if the cooks have never actually eaten mexican food or the Principal is too cheap to let them buy ingredients that actually taste good. Skip this place.
